Clyde

Today we made the hardest decision to put Clyde to sleep. The past week he took a turn for the worse and his light went out. He had his disc rupture surgery six weeks ago and he still was not close to walking. We changed our lifes to be at home to do his physical therapy many times a day and also taking him to the water therapy. He was in good spirits and really trying to walk up until this week, he started to be in a lot of pain. We put him on pain meds, but we could tell he was still hurting and depressed for having been down for so long.

I already miss him so much, he was such a presence in our life. He was a big goof ball that never quite understood just how big he was. He came into my life when he was 12 weeks old in 2001 after I bought my house. I grew up with Great Danes so I had to have one when I got my own house. He was such a great dog and I really hope I gave him a great life. He was annoying and in your face all the time, trying to sit on your lap or lean on you, but you could not help but love the big guy.

I have never lost my own pet and wow, it hurts more than I could have ever thought. I love him so much and he will forever be a best friend to me.

I love you so much buddy.

Oh, Crystal. I am so sad to hear this. I have tears in my eyes and know your pain. I am so sorry. You gave him the BEST life he could have had. I remember the day we brought him home. He was an angel and always will be.

Love you!

Thanks Angie. I remember us driving up to the house, just going to "look" at him, ha!, and he was sitting on the porch all by himself. He won my heart over that moment. Then handsomest great dane ever. :)
Love you!

ah shit. I'm so sorry to hear about poor Clyde. I really thought the guy would pull through!!!! He was totally a happy camper and definitely had a great life. :) I'll always remember him and his "must sit in your lap" attitude.

Crystal,
You and only you could make your dogs and chickens hang in the same back yard with no one getting hurt. You have such a big heart and you have done more for Clyde than most owners would have done. He loved you and he lived 8 years with you and you will always have the pictures and memory's of him. He was a big dog. Rockie is 7 and he is getting older and I dread that. We have lost a lot of danes over the years and each one was hard. It don't get any easier.
I am so sorry you had to go through the pain of losing Clyde.

I love you!

Thank you Manda and Mom. It's getting easier as the days pass, but my heart is still hurting. Our house feels so empty without him.
sigh.
But he sure did have a great life. Gotta hold onto that.
